Erected in the 20th Century on the inspiration of a devotee of Our Lady of Good Counsel (la Madonna del Buon Consiglio), the basilica dominates not just the hill of Capodimonte, but also its slopes – and indeed the whole city. Nearby are the Catacombs of San Gennaro.
