The big question “Will you marry me” has been popped and the huge “rock” rests perfectly on that ring finger with its glistening beauty, then it’s time to get your big day in motion with a wedding checklist.
You’ve probably travelled the world together and set foot in iconic places or you’ve dreamt of saying your “I do’s” at a breathtaking view – say Italy! Then you need a destination wedding checklist. It’s almost same as any other wedding checklist except few major travel and checking plans, and at least a 12 months in advance before the big day plan.
We’ve broken down the checklist for you here and you can get our wedding checklist to plan yours.
Wedding Date, Venue and Documentation
Pick a wedding date and your venue/destination – probably somewhere that matters most to the both of you, the start of your relationship or a romantic place to mark the journey of your forever – research local requirements for the perfect place for your vows. Also decide guest list, travel requirements and a budget.
Wedding Theme, Wedding Website, Wedding Planner
Pick a wedding theme and create a wedding website where you can showcase your love journey, inform your loved ones and guest of your wedding updates and plans, and also ask for donations. Send out save-the-date cards to guests to plan ahead. For a destination wedding, you need to get a destination wedding planner – like us- or contact your resort planner to help find reliable wedding vendors. This is best done 11 months in advance.
Wedding Dress, Suits & Reception Venue
10-8 months in advance, you need to get your dress designed and ordered (where it’s custom made) in order to have it ready in time for fittings before your day or to arrive early for your fittings where you’re having your dress made by a destination wedding dress designer. Book your reception venue and nearby suitable accommodation for you and your guests as most places are always fully booked during the year. Travelling? Ensure that your passport and visas are validly up-to-date or you obtain one 6 months in advance to ensure a smooth travel plan.
Invitations, Plan Bridal/Engagement Party, Confirm Vendor’s Orders
You should have picked your bridesmaids at least 5-7 months in advance and start planning the engagement party or bridal/hen night as the girls need to be ready for a fun night. Send out invitations around 3 months and receive confirmations to finalize your wedding guest list. A month to the wedding, collect the wedding rings and confirm the event times and orders with wedding vendors. Destination? Think of extra fun activities and the weather, inform your guests of any dress code and other ideas to help them pack, and plan their transportation from the airport to the whole event for ease and comfort.
